Splash Pad Frequently
Asked Questions

What sizes do the splash pads come in? What is the smallest size?

The pads can be any shape and any size. We built a splash pad in a full-size basketball court so the players could cool off while playing.

The size and shape are only limited by your imagination.

How is the water kept clean?

The system has a chlorinator and a UV light sanitizer/clarifier to kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses.

The UV light is a unique feature of My Splash Pad kits.

For optimum results, the chlorinator should be checked daily when the splash pad is in use.

Will this affect my water bill?

There is a cost associated with the initial fill of the system. The systems don’t usually require much water after that. The average tank is 250 gallons.

What is the average monthly cost to run the system?

If it is on for eight hours a day for 30 days, it would cost approximately $20 to $40 per month, depending on your electric rates.

What do you do

with it in the winter?

In late fall, the pipes must be blown out so the lines don’t break in the winter.

This is similar to what’s required for a sprinkler system. A small air compressor is all that’s needed, and it takes about half an hour to do the job.

What options do I have

for the surface?

The splash pad is built using concrete with a light broom finish to make it a non-slip surface.

If you would like to add a safety surface, we have 3 different options to choose from.

First is the colorful MSP Anti Slip Surface; this is the most economical of our safety surfaces, which is an anti-slip coating and does not include a critical fall rating.

Second is MSP Safer Surface which has a critical fall rating and anti-slip.

Thirdly, Flecks Safety Surface has a critical fall rating and anti-slip, plus it works well with Chlorinated water when you have a re-circulation splash pad.

All of our safety surfaces have bright, fun colors. Take a look at our gallery which is full of the awesome designs that we have installed on our splash pads nationwide.

How long does it take to install a splash pad?

Our trained installers can install a complete system in one week.

How soon can I landscape or reclaim the areas surrounding the splash pad?

Our recommendation is no earlier than four days after the splash pad install is completed.

The concrete needs three days to cure. Any interruption in the curing process puts the splash pad at risk for damage; such damage wouldn’t be covered under warranty.
